GRANDMASTER
HEAD-IN-CHIEF WAI HONG
Grandmaster
Wai Hong, Jong Mon (Father) of the Fu-Jow Pai system, derived from
the original Hark Fu Moon, is shown here in seminar at The Kung
Fu Conservatory, performing a salutary movement from the Fu-Jow
Pai fist forms. The movement is characteristic of the crouching
tiger turning for battle.
Grandmaster Wai Hong is the inheritor of the Fu-Jow Pai, tiger claw kung fu,
legacy. This system was bequeathed to him by the late Grandmaster Wong Moon Toy,
who, at the time of bestowal, was the system's sole surviving master. A brief
retelling of this history can be found under "Articles" on this web
site.
A true pioneer in the world of Chinese martial arts, Grandmaster Wai Hong has
dedicated his life to the development and preservation of the authentic Fu-Jow
Pai style. He has opened the door to the art of kung fu training to non-Asians
in the United States and abroad. The Grandmaster has also extensively investigated
the arts of Hung Gar, Mi Chung I, Mi Jong Law Horn, Tai Chi Chuan, Choy Lay Fut
and Shaolin Cha styles of kung fu, respectively. |
 |
The Grandmaster changed history by deciding to offer Fu-Jow Pai training
to anyone who strove to meet its exacting requirements. He encouraged
masters of other styles to adopt the same precondition by forming
and presiding over The Fu-Jow Pai Federation, The East Coast Kung Fu
Federation
and The United North American Kung Fu Federation, respectively.
Grandmaster Wai Hong can be credited with initiating the first full-contact
kung fu competition in the United States. This yearly event became famous
for promoting the martial arts, in general, and for inviting all styles
to enter a bonded brotherhood of martial artists through a unified event
whose purpose was the friendly matching of form skills as well as fighting.
The Grandmaster has been voted Man of the Year and Instructor of the
Year by numerous professional organizations applauding his tireless efforts
in promoting diplomacy among diverse martial art styles.

An engraved granite monolith has been dedicated to Grandmaster Wai Hong's
contributions to the martial arts and to his support of the Shaolin monks
and Wu Shu Troop outside the Shaolin Temple. In cooperation with Grandmaster
Chan Pui of the Wah Lum Praying Mantis system, Grandmaster worked with
Chan Poi to be the first to host the Shaolin demonstration team in the
United States.
Regarded as a hero in New York City's Chinatown, Grandmaster Wai Hong
has been an advocate for humanitarian concern, for promotion of the Chinese
culture in the United States and for his fatherly assistance to those
in need.
